Supervised by Tetsuya Gokan! Perfect for Raspberry Pi learning! You can learn serial communication between PIC microcomputer and GPIO by making a chatting clock with a clock control board connected to Raspberry Pi!
Let's make a talking clock for Chapter 5 of "Raspberry Pi Usage Guidebook to Enjoy with PIC"!
Using the text-to-speech application "AquesTalk Pi" that runs on the Raspberry Pi, it is possible to create a "talking clock" as a clock control board connected to the Raspberry Pi. It is a fun "clock control board" that constantly displays the current time on an LED and can read out the time by detecting when a person is approaching with a built-in Doppler sensor.
Send time from Raspberry Pi to PIC microcomputer via serial communication
Use Raspberry Pi as a high-performance part for text-to-speech! We will make a convenient clock that can say greetings such as "Hello", the current time, and even the weather forecast by voice.
Equipped with 4-digit 7-segment LED and Doppler sensor
The clock control board controlled by the PIC microcomputer receives the current time sent from the Raspberry Pi every second by serial communication and displays it on a 4-digit 7-segment LED. In addition, the Doppler sensor information is input to the PIC microcomputer, the proximity of a person is detected, and the Raspberry Pi is notified via GPIO.
Equipped with an amplifier (NJM2073D) that amplifies the audio output of the Raspberry Pi
It is possible to amplify the audio output of the Raspberry Pi with the power amplifier mounted on the clock control board and output it as audio from the speaker.
